Aviation: AWA expands cargo and logistics business, starts domestic freight delivery

Ghana’s leading carriers, Africa World Airlines(AWA), is expanding its business into the cargo and logistics sector as part of its commitment of providing essential connectivity to all communities in the country.

Africa World Airlines, AWA, is offering airport-to-airport courier service for urgent shipments to all domestic destinations in Ghana.

AWA said with rates starting at GHS 40, goods and other small parcels can be transported between Accra, Kumasi and Tamale in just one hour!

The airline said all shipments are subject to security inspection prior to acceptance, and restricted items will not be transported.

Africa World Airlines became the first airline to commence flight operations in the country 33 days after it suspended its flight services following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic globally.

The airline operated its first operation with flight AW110 from Accra to Kumasi with a number of passengers.

It said the flights will be operated with the highest safety protocols “which will include mandatory thermal screening and hand sanitization for all passengers and staff.
