Cairo International Airport

Egyptian capital, Cairo has been listed as the busiest international air route in Africa for the month of September.

According to airspace-africa.com, in 2020, many countries closed their borders to non-resident foreign travelers as a result of the worldwide novel coronavirus pandemic. But right now, countries are gradually reopening their borders to welcome foreign travelers and tourists.

Many of these destinations require visitors to show proof of a negative COVID test upon arrival.

Airspace Africa used data from the air travel intelligence agency OAG that compiled the current busiest international flight routes in Africa.

The results are consistent with one fact: while business travel has stalled, people are still travelling for vacations and are taking advantage of low prices and flexible cancellation policies to book cheap travel tickets.

This month, the three busiest African international routes all originate or end in Cairo, Egypt with the most popular route being between Cairo and Jeddah, Saudia Arabia.
