EgyptAir has launched a new direct service between Cairo and Zanzibar, strengthening air connectivity between North and East Africa and expanding the Egyptian flag carrier’s network across the continent.
The new service operates twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays, using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, according to Egypt Independent.
The direct connection provides travellers with a new link between Egypt’s capital and Zanzibar, one of Tanzania’s leading tourism destinations. The route is expected to support greater movement for leisure and business travellers while creating additional opportunities for tourism and economic exchange between the two markets. For Zanzibar, the new service strengthens its international air access and provides a direct connection to Cairo, a major aviation hub with links to destinations across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
For EgyptAir, the route forms part of its continued expansion across Africa, as the airline seeks to strengthen its continental network and improve connectivity between African destinations. The launch also comes as Zanzibar continues to position itself as a major international tourism destination, with improved air connectivity playing an important role in attracting visitors and supporting the island’s hospitality and tourism economy.
