President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on her election as the Vice-President of Airports Council International (ACI) Africa.
The announcement was ratified during the 34th ACI Africa General Assembly, which held in Lusaka, Zambia, and concluded on Friday, September 19, 2025.
ACI, established in 1991, is the global trade representative of the world’s airports, with over 2,000 members in more than 170 countries and territories. The body develops standards, policies, and best practices that guide airport operations worldwide.
President Tinubu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, praised the commitment of FAAN’s management to ensuring that air transport in Nigeria meets global benchmarks of safety and efficiency. He described Kuku’s election as a reflection of her “leadership, foresight, and dedication to raising Nigeria’s aviation profile.”
Before her new role, Mrs. Kuku served as Regional Advisor for Africa and is also a permanent member of the ACI World Governing Board, where she has contributed to shaping global aviation policies.
The President noted that Kuku’s international recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the growing influence of Nigeria in global aviation.
Her election further cements Nigeria’s role in advancing air transport standards on the continent, while also reinforcing FAAN’s position as a key player in the international aviation community.
