Aviation: RwandAir suspends flights to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia over COVID concerns

Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir has suspended flight operations from its hub in Kigali to Cape Town, Johannesburg in South Africa, and Harare and Lusaka in both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

According to logupdateafrica.com, the airline, together with health authorities in Rwanda, is monitoring the current challenges posed by the coronavirus.

Recently, RwandAir has started service to Bangui, twice a week, with flights operating on Wednesdays and Sundays.

There has been growing concerns over the second wave of the pandemic which comes with a new strain and is believed to be more infectious.

Already the United Kingdom Government has banned travellers from 14 African countries including South Africa following the discovery of the strain of the virus UK believed to have originated from Zulu nation.
