Aviation: Skytrax Ranks Ethiopian Airlines, 1st in Africa as Royal Air Maroc, SAA, Kenya Airways, Air Mauritius, RwandAir emerge among Best Airlines in Africa 2023

Skytrax has ranked East African Carrier, Ethiopian Airlines as the best airline in Africa with Royal Air Maroc (RAM), South African Airways (SAA), Kenya Airways, Air Mauritius and RwandAir ranking among the winners of the World Airlines Awards 2023 on June 20, on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show.

According to moroccoworldnews.com, the ranking is based on a survey that involved over 20 million passengers of more than 100 different nationalities, only six African carriers featured in the top 100 of the world’s best airlines.

The Ethiopian flag carrier went down nine places, ranking 35th worldwide, and maintaining its position as the best airline in Africa for the sixth year in a row.

Royal Air Maroc climbed 13 places to rank 53rd internationally and second in Africa, after Ethiopian Airlines.

The Moroccan flag carrier won the title of Best Regional Airline in Africa. The award recognizes full-service carriers operating mainly domestic and international flights up to approximately six hours flying time.

Other African airlines in the ranking included South African Airways in 72nd place, Kenya Airways in 73rd, Air Mauritius in 78th, and RwandAir in 90th place.

Skytrax is an international air transport rating organization based in London in the UK, founded in 1989. It has been publishing annual rankings of the world’s best airlines and airports since 1999.

Through its rankings, Skytrax aims to improve the quality of customer experience for airlines and airports worldwide.

The survey, which lasted nine months from September 2022 to May 2023, asked passengers a series of questions related to their travel experience such as the cabin service quality, flight quality, and choice of entertainment onboard.
