Cameroon reopens Doula Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of Cameroon has reopened the Duala International Airport to international operations, three weeks after the airport was closed for extensive works.

This is just as South African Airways (SAA) announced that it has resumed flights to Douala following the reopening of the airport on 21 March 2016. “The reopening of Douala airport for scheduled passenger operations has been confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Cameroon,” said SAA in a statement on Tuesday.

SAA’s four weekly flights from Johannesburg to Libreville (Gabon) and onwards to Douala in Cameroon will operate as per the normal schedule to Douala after operations were rerouted during the Douala airport closure time to Yaoundé.
“We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused during the closure of the Douala airport and would like to assure them that our operations are now back as per the previous Douala schedule,” said SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali.

In February, the national carrier announced that it would reroute its flights from Douala International Airport for reconstruction work. The flights were rerouted from 1 until 21 March.
