No sooner had Business Travel News reminded everyone that coffee had been invented in Ethiopia (“Ethiopia is where coffea arabica, the coffee plant, originates. It is the largest producer in Africa” – see BTN 24 March) than Ethiopian Airlines announced it is teaming with Blue Dot World to sponsor the first ever London Coffee Stop Awards.
Only until Wednesday (2 April) coffee lovers are invited to vote for their favourite coffee shop from over 200 independent and 1,200 branded coffee shops across London.
The lucky coffee shop winner will receive two free return flights to Addis Ababa from London aboard Ethiopian’s B787 Dreamliner whilst coffee lovers will get the chance to sample free coffee at many of the outlets taking part. These include Starbucks, Caffè Nero and Harris & Hoole, as well as popular independent outlets such as Ozone Coffee Roasters, Artisan and Kaffeine. As Ethiopia is synonymous with coffee this marketing initiative, presented by Chris Ward at Blue Dot World has strong appeal.
Ethiopian has an important year in the UK as it steps up to daily services on its Heathrow to Addis Ababa route from 8 July, closely followed by its move on 17 September to the brand new Queen’s Terminal. https://www.coffeestopslondon.com www.ethiopianairlines.com
