Africa: Ghana Tourism Authority, hotel stakeholders put measures in place to protect against coronavirus as sector experiences mass cancellation.
In a bid to protect the nation and clients that patronise hospitality facilities in the country, Ghana Tourism Authority and hotel stakeholders has taken measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The decision is coming on heels of mass cancellation of hotel bookings which are presently being experienced in the hospitality industry in the country.
In a meeting held with stakeholders, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Tourism Authority, GTA, Mr Akwasi Agyeman, said the stakeholders have agreement to implement measures put in place by the authority.
He said all hotels must display notices printed by the agency which will be handed over to hospitality facilities, adding that hotel rooms will have letters advising precautionary measures, sanitizers in all public areas, wearing of protective gear by kitchen staff and display of GHS hotline numbers on premises.
He said: “Hoteliers especially raised impact on their businesses with the mass cancellations. We have requested for data on this and will meet again on Monday with heads of various associations on Monday @ 1pm at GTA.”
