In a bid to widen its network and position itself as the preferred airline in the West African sub-region, Ghana’s leading carrier, Africa World Airlines (AWA) has taken delivery of its 7th Aircraft, an Embraer, with registration number 9G-AFQ.
Africa world airlines has become a dominate force in the aviation sub region in Africa since it started operations.
The airline made history as it became first airline from Ghana to operate scheduled flights between Accra Ghana and Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.
Earlier, the Accra-based airline, which currently operates regional flights to Lagos and Abuja Nigeria, and the West coast said it was looking to bring in more equipment and increase its offering to West African destinations.
According to atqnews.com. the airline leads the pack of foreign airlines operating into Nigeria with 49 weekly frequencies of the 325 frequencies operated by 25 foreign airlines.
The 325 weekly frequencies, however, translates into 9,810 frequencies per month or a grand total of 117,720 frequencies per annum.
In just four years of operating in the aviation industry, leading Ghanaian carrier, Africa World Airline (AWA) has become a darling airline to air travellers in Ghana and Nigerian.
AWA was incorporated on November 15, 2010 as a joint-venture between HNA Group (China), SAS Finance Group (Ghana), China-Africa Development Fund (CAD-Fund, China) and the Social Security and National Insurance (SSNIT).
