Major airlines around the globe are threatening to suspend flights into the Yaounde Nsimalen airport, the Embassy of the United States in Cameroon has warned its citizens while cautioning them on measures to take.
The US Embassy says the suspension could take effect beginning November 15 due to a failure to come to agreement over security screening procedures with the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority.
Though no US carriers fly into or out of Nsimalen International Airport, the Embassy has however released a set of measures, to be taken by its citizens, including travelling to Douala to undertake international travel.
Such misunderstandings between the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority and airliners is coming at a time when a mission of the Confederation of African football is in Cameroon to inspect the country’s facilities, including airports, to host next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
