Hello guys! Over the weekend, I made it a duty to visit one of the most sort after, tour centers in Africa – Lekki Conservation Centre Lagos.
The centre which came into existence 25 years ago is a great place to experience the solemnity of nature.
As a first timer, I was extremely impressed at the outcome as the centre was crowded by adventurers in spite of the sudden increase in the price of the ticket resulting from the regular `change hullabaloo` in the country.
I had a lot of mind blowing experiences, Lekki Conservation Centre is the hub of nature preservation in the whole of Africa.
Now what makes Lekki conservation center tick?
NATURE PRESERVATION
This can never be over looked when visiting Lekki conservation centre. It has the sweetest nature preservation any tour center would ever boast of, from animal coexisting peacefully to the swampy jungle to tall and useful palm trees.
The tour center gives a tourist a cool, invigorating and brisk atmosphere away from the bustle and hustle in the city of Lagos where it is located.
WOODEN BRIDGE
The wooden bridge has been a part of the attraction from its inception since 1990.
This attraction happens to be the lead way to the other attractions such as the canopy walk, games, ponds and so on. I would say the wooden bridge is well built and properly in check.
CANOPY WALK WAY
The canopy walkway happens to be the main attraction of LCC mainly because it is the longest in Africa and second in the world.
Malaysia is first with 500 meters and this in Nigeria Lekki Conservative Center is second with 401 meters . The canopy walk way was commissioned May 5th 2015 and the test run started may 5th to December 23rd.
RECREATION
There are several recreational activities at lekki conservation center such as the jungle gym which involves rigorous climbing , focus and strength to achieve.
There are also other games such as Ludo, snakes and ladder and chess.
PONDS
They are two huge fish ponds at the tour center such as Koi fish which are ornamental and popularly found among the Japanese. The capacity of the koi pond at LCC IS 160,000 liters the koi fishes are distinguished by their colors.
Another pond is the Red Nile Tilapia, a very large fish, the adult reach up to 15 inches in length and weighs up to 9.5 pounds.
FAMILY PARK
The family park is a 30 hectare of land which houses all recreational activities, large gazebos for family picnic and all forms of entertai nment.
The family park is located at the savanna part of the center.
JUNGLE GYM
The jungle gym is another main attraction of Lekki Conservation center. The gym is meant for people with ample stamina and to me for people with balls of steel.
TREE HOUSE
The tree house is beautifully situated along the wooden bridge. However still under construction but the sight of the half done tree house gives a good guess of how wonderful the outcome would be.
LARGE GAZEBOS
The large gazebos are located at the family park. They are three large gazebos for relaxation and family picnics.
It was a thrilling and an exciting experience, taking a selfie on the highest canopy walk was the craziest thing I have ever done, well that is meant for people with balls of steel and if you don’t have that, don’t ever attempt so you don’t say good bye to your newly purchased or adored gadget.
I would say kudos to the Nigerian government for the proper maintenance, trusting a high canopy walk way is a whole lot to handle and I wasn’t disappointed, the facilities are properly maintained, well I climbed everything climbable because I believed it wouldn’t crumble in seconds.
However they are several administrative defects I noticed and I am going to share that also. I and my friends complained bitterly after being abandoned by our tour guide half the tour and finding our way was a real battle. We missed a lot of other breathtaking sightings such as colored fishes, swing climbing and the oldest tortoise, yeah we missed all of that. The center also didn’t provide a workable POS [point of sale] for the tourists and the nearest ATM [automated teller machine] was a ride away, but still it was an amazing experience. I hope to visit once again and at least have a better experience.
So guys if you want that breathe taking, spectacular, magnificent, astounding and unique weekend adventure for you and your family Lekki Conservative center is the place!
