Fela Kuti, Ronaldinho and Neymar – what do they have in common?

Fela Kuti’s 1973 song ‘Alu Jon Jonki Jon’ is used in the new Nike advert, which features football stars, Ronaldinho Guacho, Neymar Jr., Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe, Mallory Pugh and Tammy Abraham.

The latest Nike advert has Fela Kuti’s 1973 song, ‘Alu Jon Jonki Jon’ as its soundtrack.
Even in death, Fela Kuti remains one of the most globally influential pop artists, as he created a genre that is an important ingredient in global music-Afrobeat.

In the visually stunning ad, the track plays as Neymar Jr., Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe, Mallory Pugh and Tammy Abraham carry the spirit of football legend and former world footballer of the year, Ronaldhino Guacho’s message to football.

The football legend advices lovers of the sport to allow creativity take them further than calculation.
