News: Governor Fubara Dismisses Insecurity Narratives, Declares Rivers State Safe for Tourism and Business

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared the state as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful destinations for tourists and businesspeople, actively working to counter negative media narratives about its security situation.

He emphasized that the state is safe, hospitable, and fully open for business and major events. According, Fubara made this declaration during the All Nigeria Rotary Conference, Port Harcourt, 2025, held at the state capital on Saturday.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Benibo Anabraba, the governor said the people and government of the state are happy that the conference was held in the Garden City, thus showcasing the hospitality of the state. He stated, “We deeply appreciate your choice of the city of Port-Harcourt as your place of convergence, and heartily welcome this gathering of business leaders, policy makers and global partners to the Garden City and the legendary hospitality of the jewel of the Niger Delta. “Your presence is a testament, and a tick of pass-mark on the scorecard that Rivers State is indeed peaceful and safe”.

Fubara encouraged the Rotary District of Nigeria to cooperate and partner with the Rivers State government in providing leadership training and mentorship to the teeming youths. According to him, “The Rotary Club should partner with the Government in mentoring energetic youths, to steer them away from social vices, and to direct their focus on positive endeavours that will help them realise their God-given potentials for their personal growth and service to humanity”.

On peace and reconciliation: “Act as mediators, practitioners and propagators of ethnic and religious tolerance, fairness, justice and equity, peace and unity, to stem the tide of disaffection in the polity”, he admonished. Fubara applauded the clubs’ attributes of helping to build goodwill and peace around the world, and particularly in Rivers State. The host District Governor, Rotary International District 9141, 2025-2026 Rotary Year. Anthony Woghiren thanked the Rotarian for their commitment to strengthening Rotary’s mission, empowering communities and elevating the spirit of service above self.

“As we gather in Port Harcourt for this landmark conference, we are inspired anew to unite for good, deepen our impact and prepare for greater possibilities ahead,” he said. Our correspondent reports that the governor was also awarded the Peace Advocate by Rotary District of Nigeria, for his resilience and dedication to the sustenance of peace in Rivers State. PUNCH Online earlier reported that Fubara reiterated that delivering democratic dividends to the people remains his administration’s top priority. The governor said his social contract to stay steadfast and resolute in providing the best for the people would continue to drive his actions.
