Governor Peter Mbah has launched the 042 RIDE Taxi Youth Empowerment Scheme, a new initiative designed to create jobs and upgrade public transport in Enugu.
The scheme targets young residents of Enugu State who hold valid driver’s licences and want to own and operate their own transport business. Successful applicants will be equipped to run modern taxi services under the 042 RIDE brand.
Beyond job creation, the programme tackles Enugu’s mobility gap after dark. By extending reliable public transport services past 9 pm, the state aims to give residents safer, more convenient travel options at night.
It’s part of Governor Mbah’s broader push to modernize transport while empowering youth – turning mobility into opportunity.
