The United States remained the world’s biggest aviation market in 2024, recording a total of 876 million passengers, according to the latest data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This marks a 5.2% increase compared to 2023.
According to iata.org, following closely, China ranked as the second-largest passenger market, with 741 million travelers in 2024. The country experienced a significant growth of 18.7% year-on-year.

The United Kingdom secured the third position with 261 million passengers and a growth rate of 7.3%. Spain followed with 241 million passengers, representing a 10.7% increase from the previous year. India came next, recording 211 million passengers and an 11.1% growth, showing consistent expansion in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
Japan also posted impressive figures, with 205 million passengers and a strong 18.6% year-on-year growth, placing it among the top six aviation markets globally.
