The Lagos State government has unveiled a traffic diversion plan in preparation for the upcoming Afropolis Dance Festival, set to take place on Lagos Island.
According to guardian.ng, the event, which will span nine days, is expected to attract large crowds, prompting the need for strategic traffic management to minimize disruptions in the bustling area.
The event, which is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, is scheduled to last for nine days, starting from Saturday, October 26, 2024, to Sunday, November 3, 2024, and will operate 24 hours daily.
Consequently, the Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated that there will be a full road closure of J. Randle Road, Onikan Lagos, between Lagos City Mall and the National Museum before the Onikan Roundabout for the event.
In view of the traffic implications, motorists are hereby enjoined to use alternative routes highlighted as follows: “Traffic from Awolowo Road going to Tafawa Balewa Square Road will turn left into Onikan Roundabout to connect to King George V Road and link to Marina Exit to connect with Force Road to access Tafawa Balewa Road to continue their journeys.
“ Traffic from Outer Marina going to Awolowo Road will turn left into Force Road to link to Tafawa Balewa Road and connect to Old Defence Road to link Tafawa Balewa Square to Macarthy Street and to access Onikan Road to link to Awolowo Road to continue their journeys.
