The Director-General/CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike, received the Academy Provost of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Professor BJ. Ajibuah, on a courtesy visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, 22 October 2026.

The visit strengthened institutional relations and explored areas of mutual interest, particularly in meteorological training, research and capacity development. Discussions focused on integrating meteorological knowledge, weather and climate services into military training and operational planning to support informed decision-making. Both institutions also explored opportunities for specialised training, professional development, joint research and knowledge exchange to enhance their personnel’s technical capacity.

During the discussions, both institutions considered establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a formal framework for sustained cooperation, define priority areas of engagement and facilitate mutually beneficial initiatives.

The proposed collaboration reflects the importance of institutional partnerships in applying meteorological expertise to national security, strengthening professional capacity and supporting Nigeria’s broader development objectives.
