Azamara Unveils Extended Cruises

Azamara has introduced a new lineup of longer and more immersive cruises for 2025 and 2026, focusing on a ‘slowcation’ style that allows travelers to explore destinations at a more relaxed pace.

According to africabeat, designed for travellers seeking meaningful, unhurried experiences, the collection includes a standout 18-night journey from Gran Canaria to Cape Town, offering a rare opportunity to explore Africa’s Atlantic coastline in depth.

Departing 2 December 2025 aboard Azamara Journey, the West Africa Cruise: Senegal, St. Helena & Walvis Bay visits a mix of remote ports and lesser-known destinations. Highlights include Dakar (Senegal), Banjul (Gambia), Jamestown (St. Helena), Walvis Bay (Namibia, overnight) and Lüderitz (Namibia), before concluding in Cape Town, South Africa. The itinerary also includes four sea days, giving guests time to relax and reflect between destinations.

A deeper look at Africa’s coastal gems
Azamara’s slowcation itineraries are all about depth over speed, with longer port stays and overnight dockings that allow for a richer exploration of each destination. In Senegal, guests will visit Noflaye’s Turtle Village, while in Namibia, an excursion to a desert watering hole offers the chance to spot wildlife in a unique setting.

Each stop is curated to provide cultural immersion and authentic regional encounters, moving beyond traditional sightseeing to experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Designed for travellers seeking more than a checklist
The West Africa sailing is one of five itineraries unveiled as part of Azamara’s slowcation concept, aimed at travellers who want more time to connect with local culture, people and landscapes.

Azamara says the demand for slower, more purposeful travel is rising, particularly for long-haul destinations like Africa where time and space allow for deeper discovery.

Cape Town’s inclusion as a final port reflects the city’s growing importance as a cruise destination, while the journey’s remote Atlantic islands and lesser-visited coastal ports make it especially appealing for seasoned travellers looking for something new.
