Tourism: Ghana appoints Africa Travel 100 Global leader, Top Tour Operator and Communicator Abeiku Santana as Deputy CEO

As part of efforts to advance Ghana’s goal of becoming a leading tourism destination, Ghanaian government has appointed one of Africa’s leading tourism figures, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana as the Deptuy Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

The appointment was announced by the Presidency on Wednesday, 26th February 2025.

He has a master’s degree in Tourism Management from the University of Cape Coast and another master’s degree in Marketing Strategy from the University of Ghana Business School, bringing a wealth of experience to the field of tourism. In 2024, he was named among the Top Africa Travel 100 Global Leaders at the 20th Akwaaba African Travel Market.

Abeiku Santana has been at the forefront of Ghana’s tourism for more than two decades, contributing massively to the sector’s growth with laudable media sensitisation drives. Abeiku Santana’s awards catalogue in tourism includes also Tourism CEO of the Year at the 2023 Ghana CEO Awards, Tourism Orientated Media Personality at the 2021 Ghana Tourism Awards, M.I.C.E. Africa 2018 Company of the Year (Kaya Tours) and EMY Africa Special Recognition Award for Tourism Promotion and Marketing (2020, Kaya Tours), among others.

The 2021 Radio and Television Personality of the Year is also one of the topmost personalities in Ghana’s music space, having contributed to the unearthing of numerous musical talents over his over 20 years in the music industry.
