Kigali, Rwanda, will host the 2027 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) annual meeting, marking the first time in over 20 years that the event is held in Africa.
According to tourismupdate. The 2027 ICCA gathering is scheduled to take place from October 24-27. Cape Town was the last African city to host the event in 2004.
Last year’s edition welcomed over 1 500 delegates from 81 countries.
“This historic occasion reflects the continent’s growing prominence and leadership within the international MICE industry,” said Janet Karemera, CEO of the Rwanda Convention Bureau.
“Made possible through the steadfast support of our partners and stakeholders, local and regional, this milestone provides an important opportunity to offer distinguished experiences and to present not only Rwanda’s capabilities but also the collective strength and potential of our regional partners,” Karemera added.
The ICCA ranks Kigali as the second most popular destination for business events (behind Cape Town).
