Tanzania’s newly elected president, John Pombe Magufuli is at it again and this time around his actions have left a bad taste in people’s mouths.

Word going round is that the 56-year-old has ordered that all foreigners including Kenyans with or without work permits to relinquish their jobs to the Tanzanians.

The operation which is dubbed ‘Oparesheni Timua’ was launched Thursday and it will see Tanzanian immigration officials carry out door to door workplace raids to hunt ‘foreigners’ doing business in Tanzania.

Tanzania’s Assistant Minister for Home Affairs  Hamad Masauni confirmed the ongoing operation saying that its’ main aim was to reduce the number of visitors doing jobs that can be done by the natives.

Masauni who was speaking at a press conference in Dar es Salaam on Thursday added that the operation was only to make sure that visitors follow immigration rules.

Those who have been greatly affected by this operation are Kenyan teachers working in private schools in Tanzania.

Kenyans have since retaliated by asking President Uhuru Kenyatta to deport all Tanzanians who are working in the country.
