“The story of Africa has been told, retold and continues to be handed down in different ways. But of the many versions told about Africa’s frightening beauty, the tales re-counted on Thru The Eyes Of An African compels its viewers to really see Africa, not through a prism of misconceived notions, but in its true and glowing colours, while revealing to all the strength of the African people, which is their culture“
Through her TV documentaries, she paints with vivid words, the continent’s colourful cultures, exotic forests and games reserves, beautifully rolling landscapes,a strong and distinguished people wealthy in potential and passionate about their homeland…
The winning entry, Gift of the Nile, brings back to life an era in Egypt when gigantic stone boulders were hoisted up to unbelievable heights to build an enormous empire through the combined strength of Egyptian slaves and have remained amazing testimonies to man’s incredible engineering skills and physical endurance at a time when machinery was not in existence.
Yvonne Bassey’s sojourn into the bowels of these eternal homes, some still pregnant with the undiscovered treasures of kings, is a telling witness to Ancient Egypt’s awesome and mysterious past and It is these compelling aspects of Africa that inspire her documentaries, alongside the enduring cultures and customs of the people she meets along the way.
The pleasantness in weather that ranges from the warmth of the tropics, to the mid-temperate belts at the farthest points and elevations are amplified through description, even as she extols the virtues of the land of the rising sun.
