Africa: 1200 Tourists join inaugural tour of Ibarapa tourism Sites in Oyo State

Tourism 100 Club Winner, Sunday Olugbenga successfully hosted over 1200 tourists at the inaugural tour of Ibarapa, Oyo State. The tour which kicked off on the 26th of December across 3 different local government areas across Ibarapa zone started off with homage paid to the Royal fathers of all 7 towns that make Ibarapa community.

The tour started off at Ibarapa Central also had in attendance the President of the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET), John Omololu Olumuyiwa. Guests were treated to the tourists sites like Akolu Hills, Onigba Poro, Igba Olofin rocks and the suspended rock at Itabo. The tour further continued to the north of Ibarapa where tourists also had the opportunity to visit sites like Isamuni Hills, Imofin Hills and Akomare Hills.

Tourists were also treated to series of cultural activities like singing and dancing. Tourists also had the chance to see a 400 year old tree. According to history, the tree called Idi Ape Idere has always had green leaves during both the rainy and dry season. The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Hon. Fakorede Seun who was present during the grand finale applauded the event and also expressed his feelings that no stone will be left unturned to make sure that Ibarapa Hills tourist centre is actualized.

It could be recalled that the initiator of the event, Olugbenga Omotayo Sunday was recently inducted into the Tourism 100 Club Personalities at the 7th Abuja Jabamah for his contributions to the development of tourism in Nigeria. Abuja Jabamah is a travel event put together by organizers of Akwaaba Travel Market in its efforts to drive domestic tourism.
