Nigeria’s Corporate Travel industry has undergone some immense changes and challenges in the past year. Airline Commission cuts, plummeting oil prices and the Ebola epidemic have all had a severe impact on the local business travel sector.
ABTA will be hosting a Business Travel Industry forum in Lagos, Nigeria on 21 May at The Four Points Hotel to discuss these industry challenges. This forum will give Travel Buyers and Suppliers the opportunity to discuss the current trends, challenges and opportunities within this sector.
Says ABTA Founder Monique Swart, “This Forum will see a strong focus on Customer, TMC and Supplier communication in order create strategies for surviving in this ever-changing landscape. Due to the drastic drop in oil prices over the past 6 months, we are seeing that many Corporate travel customers are becoming far more cost-sensitive and this is having a knock on effect across the entire industry, both locally and across Africa. Travel Agents, TMC’s and Suppliers are now having to work a lot harder to justify their value and earn sustainable incomes, working within ever-tightening travel budgets.”
This ABTA Forum will see industry experts discussing these industry challenges and will give guidance as to how customers can reduce travel costs, whilst still maintaining strong and mutually beneficial relationships with their Travel Suppliers.
