ABC Transport

Around 1991–1992, Chief Frank Nneji experienced a terrible road journey from Owerri to Lagos. Passengers were overcrowded, customer service was poor, and the trip was uncomfortable. Instead of merely complaining, he saw a business opportunity: create a transport company that treated passengers with dignity and comfort.

Starting ABC Transport
With a business plan and a loan of about ₦1.5 million from one of the Nigerian bank, he leased a handful of buses and launched Associated Bus Company (ABC). On February 13, 1993, ABC Transport officially commenced operations.

At a time when road transport in Nigeria was largely informal, ABC introduced:
Professional customer service
Scheduled departures
Air-conditioned luxury buses
Better safety standards
Modern terminals and waiting lounges

These innovations quickly distinguished the company from competitors.

Building an Empire
Over the years, ABC Transport expanded from a few buses to a fleet of hundreds of vehicles operating across Nigeria and West Africa. The company diversified into:
Cargo and courier services
Logistics
Hospitality
Haulage services
Vehicle assembly and related businesses

ABC became the first major road transport company in Nigeria to operate as a public limited company and gained recognition for setting new standards in the industry.

Recognition and Awards
Chief Frank Nneji received numerous honors for his contributions to business and transportation, including:
Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)
FATE Model Entrepreneur Award
Outstanding Young Person Award
Several transportation and logistics industry awards

Retirement and Legacy
After leading ABC Transport for 30 years, Frank Nneji retired as Managing Director/CEO in 2023 and handed over leadership to his brother, Chief Jude Nneji, while remaining involved as a non-executive director.
