No fewer than 50 tourism companies have been trained in Uganda in order to better marker the country as a preferred destinations for tourist.
The a 3-day intense training took place at the Speke Resort and Conference Centre in Kampala, March 15-17 2023, where Ugandan inbound tourism companies were trained within the framework of the multiple-year project ´Transforming Ugandan Tourism´ managed by the Netherlands CBI – Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries.

On Day 1, tourism experts/trainers Bertrand Carrier and Marlon van Hee, shared with the trainees the most up to date tourism market intelligence about the different European source markets.
Emilie Hagedoorn, a tourism enthusiast took care of Day 2 which was all about sustainability in tourism.
On Day 3, trainers worked with the trainees in groups to develop/adjust Uganda tour programs, tailor these for specific European (niche) market segments and include sustainability and community experiences.
Three long days of hard work, had great interaction and results. “We danced; we had fun! After the training, 45+ one to one meetings with the Ugandan tourism companies, several meetings with potential Ugandan, local coaches/facilitators, two meetings with the Uganda project team and excursion into the swamp near Entebbe to spot the Shoebill.”
