Air Zimbabwe

Air Zimbabwe passengers were left stranded after the airline unexpectedly cancelled its Harare-to-London flight on Friday night when the pilot scheduled to operate the service reportedly became ill, causing major disruption to travelers heading to the United Kingdom.

According to newsday.co.zw, the airline confirmed the cancellation in a statement, saying the flight had been rescheduled to Saturday evening.

The affected service is operated using a wet-leased Airbus A330-300, which was introduced on the route when Air Zimbabwe launched three weekly flights between Harare and London on July 22.

The cancellation marks the first major disruption to the recently relaunched route, which restored the airline’s direct service to the United Kingdom after years of absence.

The airline did not provide further details on the pilot’s illness.
