Africa largest carrier, Ethiopian Airlines is set to evacuate stranded Ghanaian nationals in New York, United States of America.
The Ghanaian consulate in New York had informed its nationals that the evacuation flight is expected to airlift passengers from Liberty International Airport, Newark New Jersey from June 25th, 2020.
A statement by the consulate said there will be a pre-boarding screening for all evacuees before departure adding that passengers will be required to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
It said passengers are to pay $1,350 for economy Class, and $2, 840 for Business Class, adding that two pieces of luggage of 50lbs or 22 kilo per passenger will be allowed. The consular further added that fares for infant can be found at the airline’s website.
According to the consulate, there will be a 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Accra, with the possibility of extension to 21 days, noting that the cost of the quarantine will be borne by the evacuee as per the attached selected hotels.
The consulate further stated that payment and proof of the airfare and the quarantine will be required before boarding and departure from Liberty International Airport.
