The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers that airport operations across the country will continue despite the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions, saying measures are in place to minimise disruptions and maintain safe, secure and orderly operations.
In a statement dated August 11, 2026, FAAN said it is closely monitoring developments arising from the industrial action and remains committed to protecting the interests of passengers and other airport users.
The Authority also recognised the legitimate role of organised labour and expressed support for the ongoing efforts of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other stakeholders to reach an amicable resolution to the issues in contention.
According to FAAN, it is working with relevant aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to minimise the impact of the industrial action and ensure that airport operations remain functional.
The airport authority further disclosed that earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights had been addressed through ongoing inter-agency coordination, with measures being sustained to support the orderly continuation of flight operations.
“FAAN remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s airports remain safe, secure, functional and accessible to passengers and other airport users,” the statement said.
The Authority advised passengers to remain calm and maintain contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates and information concerning their flights.
FAAN also expressed appreciation to the travelling public for their understanding and patience, while expressing confidence that the ongoing engagements under the leadership of the Aviation Minister would result in a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution.
