Africa: FAAN, NCAA, NAMA Hold Emergency Meeting with Airlines on Ground Handling Charges, Sunset Airport Operations

Ground Handling Charges

The Managing Director/Chief Executive, of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku joined The Director General, of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo and the Managing Director, of Nigeria Air Space Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, represented by Mr, John Tayo, at an emergency meeting with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and Ground Handlers at the NCAA Training Hall in Lagos, today, February 21, 2024.

According to a press release by FAAn, the meeting harped on two key issues which include ground handling charges and the operation of sunset airports.

On the issue of sunset Airports, the DG CAA, Captain Najomo announced that the CAA, FAAN and NAMA managements have agreed to extend the night operations of the Owerri, Yola, Enugu and Ilorin Airports to 10 pm to give room for more operation time for the Airlines.

The FAAN MD, Mrs. Kuku also assured that the Authority is committed to improving the lighting systems at Airports with the project’s first phase nearing completion.
