The Ghana Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has clarified the guideline for the reopening of hospitality industry in the country issued by the tourism authority.
A statement signed by the Minister of Tourism, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi said food chains and restaurants (including hotel restaurants) can operate takeout and delivery services only adding that drinking bars and all night clubs remain closed.
Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), had earlier issued a statement for food chains and restaurants to operate sit-down as well as pick-up and delivery service while observing social distancing and hygiene protocols adding that drinking bars can also operate while observing the same protocols.
GTA said all hotels can operate as normal and host guests, subject to the specified elevated hygiene and social distancing.
It said: “In all situations, hospitality facilities should observe the staff management and workplace protocols and precautionary measures on public gatherings with the view of achieving social distancing and hygiene protocols as spelt out in the Imposition of Restrictions (Coronavirus Disease (COVIC-19) Pandemic) Instrument, 2020 (E.I. 64)
