Kenya is strengthening its collaboration with the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) as part of efforts to attract new investments, enhance sustainability, and reinforce its position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.
Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, announced the development following a strategic meeting with WTTC leadership, including President and CEO Gloria Guevara and Executive Vice President Hon. Najib Balala, a former Kenyan Tourism Minister.
According to Miano, the meeting featured a comprehensive presentation by the WTTC that highlighted Kenya’s strong standing within Africa’s tourism landscape while benchmarking the country against leading global destinations.
The insights provided during the session offered a clearer picture of Kenya’s competitive advantages and areas of opportunity as the country seeks to expand its share of the international travel market.
“Today, I had the pleasure of hosting a strategic meeting with the leadership of the World Travel & Tourism Council,” Miano said, noting that the discussions focused on leveraging global partnerships to accelerate tourism growth and investment.
The Cabinet Secretary said Kenya would deepen its ongoing partnership with the WTTC by aligning the country’s rich tourism assets—including its renowned wildlife, cultural heritage, and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) capabilities—with the council’s extensive global private-sector network.
The strengthened collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for tourism investment, support conservation efforts, and promote sustainable development across the sector.
Miano emphasized that safeguarding biodiversity remains a key priority as Kenya seeks to balance tourism growth with environmental stewardship.

The partnership is also expected to enhance Kenya’s visibility among international investors, travel operators, and tourism stakeholders, further positioning the country as a preferred destination for leisure and business travelers alike.
Kenya has continued to build on its reputation as one of Africa’s premier tourism destinations, attracting visitors through its diverse wildlife experiences, coastal attractions, cultural heritage, adventure tourism offerings, and growing conference tourism segment.
With global tourism recovering and competition among destinations intensifying, Miano expressed confidence that the partnership with the WTTC would help strengthen Kenya’s global appeal.
“Magical Kenya remains a powerhouse destination, exceptionally positioned to be the world’s preferred global destination,” she said.
The WTTC is one of the world’s leading travel and tourism organizations, representing the private sector and working with governments and industry stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism growth worldwide.
