Kenya’s tourism sector experienced significant growth in 2024, attracting 7.5 million visitors, including 2.4 million international tourists and 5.1 million domestic travelers.
This represents a 14.6% increase from 2023, when the country recorded 2 million international arrivals.

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) CEO June Chepkemei highlighted these impressive figures as a testament to the country’s expanding appeal as a global travel destination.

According to her, domestic bed occupancy also rose to 5.1 million, up from 4.6 million in 2023, reflecting a 12% spike. Note that this figure excludes unregistered accommodations and homestays, which likely account for an additional 10% of occupancy. Overall, combined bed occupancy grew by 16%, reaching 10 million.
In terms of earnings, inbound tourism generated Ksh. 452.20 billion, a strong 19.79% increase from the previous year.”
