The China Airport Construction Company, CACC, has expressed its readiness to partner with the Lagos State Government in its quest to construct an airport at the Lekki axis of the state.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who in Beijing at the headquarters of the firm in China, disclosed this on his official X account.

The governor stated that part of his visit to China was to seek partner who truly understand and appreciate the state’s market and potential growth.
He said: “During our meeting, I expressed the government’s ambition to build an airport soon, seeking partners who truly understand and appreciate our market’s potential for growth.“

According to him, the Director of CACC, Kui Yu, affirmed their company’s capability to support the state in achieving it goal of constructing an airport in Lagos, recognizing the state’s development prospects within Nigeria and Africa.
According to atqnews.com, the state government had earlier said it is in the preliminary stages of deliberating the establishment of a passenger airline, coinciding with the imminent commencement of construction for its airport in Lekki.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed this plan on Thursday during the Lagos West Senatorial District People’s Town Hall Meeting. He presented a rundown of achievements and stewardship by his administration in the western part of Lagos.
During the meeting, Pa Muhammed Hassan, a former Permanent Secretary and retired Auditor General for Local Government in Lagos, suggested that the state was ready to own an airline.
In response, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that the plan had been in progress for months, with the state finalizing the financing model for the project. The Governor also mentioned that they are awaiting Federal Government approval and operational contingencies for the airline.
He stated, “Over the last five months, Mr. Deputy Governor and I have been working to put a concise plan together for the establishment of an airline, but we did not make the plan open because of the need to get adequate knowledge about the operational procedures of airlines.”
