The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), led by its Director-General, Mr. Amodu Razaak paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, on Friday, May 22, 2026, to strengthen institutional collaboration and strategic partnership for greater impact in the preservation and promotion of Lagos State’s cultural heritage.

The visit focused on exploring innovative ways to leverage archival resources and historical documentation in advancing tourism development across the state. During the engagement, Mr. Aregbe expressed a strong interest in partnering with LASRAB to develop tourism products rooted in Lagos’ rich historical and documentary heritage.

According to the Special Adviser, archival materials and heritage records possess immense value in shaping authentic historical narratives for stage plays, films, and other creative productions that accurately portray the history and identity of Lagos State. He emphasised the need to tell Lagos stories from original and credible sources to preserve the integrity of the state’s history and prevent distortion by external narratives.

Mr. Aregbe further noted that the preservation and documentation efforts of LASRAB present tremendous opportunities to enrich Lagos State’s tourism offerings and position the state as a world-class tourism destination. He welcomed the opportunity for sustained engagement and collaboration between both offices toward achieving this vision.

In his remarks, the Director-General of LASRAB, Mr. Amodu expressed appreciation for the warm reception and insightful ideas shared by the Special Adviser on how the state’s history can be better projected through tourism and creative storytelling.

He also briefed the Special Adviser on the various partnerships and collaborations LASRAB has embarked upon since the beginning of the year, while hinting at more strategic engagements and initiatives expected in the coming quarter as part of the Bureau’s commitment to preserving and promoting Lagos State’s historical legacy.
