The Miss Tourism Uganda 2026 contestants received a tourism-focused training session on August 19, 2026, as part of their boot camp at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC). The session, led by the organisation’s CEO, brought together 35 contestants and focused on equipping the young women with ideas and practical approaches for creating meaningful initiatives within Uganda’s tourism sector.
Beyond the pageant and the pursuit of the crown, the training challenged the contestants to see themselves as potential tourism advocates, entrepreneurs and change-makers, capable of using their platforms to contribute to the development of Uganda’s tourism industry. The session also provided an opportunity to nurture and refine some of the contestants’ ideas, encouraging them to develop initiatives that can create tangible impact in their communities and across the wider tourism ecosystem.

One of the highlights was the sharing of the CEO’s personal journey into tourism, including how the sector became a source of livelihood, purpose and professional fulfillment. The experience reinforced a broader message: tourism is not only about destinations and attractions; it is also about people, opportunities and livelihoods. By empowering young women with knowledge, confidence and practical tools, tourism can become a pathway to leadership, entrepreneurship and meaningful change.
