On October 30, the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) celebrated 100 days of new leadership under Hajia Bolaji Mustapha and her executive team. This milestone highlights a journey of dedication, progress, and forging visionary partnerships to uplift Nigerian tourism.
Hajia Mustapha described leading NATOP as a calling rather than just a role. Over the past 100 days, she and her team have focused on listening, learning, and building a stronger, more inclusive tourism industry. Their efforts have been driven by a commitment to unity and a shared vision of growth for Nigerian tourism.
NATOP has prioritized partnerships with key stakeholders in the tourism sector to benefit its members and the industry at large. Significant collaborations have been established with the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR). These partnerships aim to provide resources and support for NATOP members.
The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has also played a critical role in showcasing Nigeria’s diverse tourism offerings. In collaboration with the NTDA and government agencies, including the former Ministry of Tourism and the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, NATOP is working to create a conducive environment for tourism growth.
NATOP successfully celebrated this year’s World Tourism Day through a collaborative effort involving its partners and members. The event showcased Nigeria’s potential as a tourism destination while celebrating the culture and people that make its attractions unique. NATOP looks forward to building on this success in the coming years.
In partnership with La Campagne Tropicana, NATOP organized a familiarization tour as part of the Ipada Initiative and Carnival Project. These initiatives aim to highlight Nigeria’s heritage through cultural events, immersive experiences, and tourism activities. They reinforce NATOP’s commitment to sustainable tourism development and promoting Nigeria’s rich traditions and scenic beauty.
Reflecting on the progress made, Hajia Mustapha expressed her gratitude for the support of NATOP members and stakeholders. “Every day as your president, I am reminded of the immense potential within us. I’m excited for what the future holds, and I am deeply grateful to lead such a passionate, resilient community,” she said.
