Neos Air has commenced direct flights between Milan and Banjul, with its inaugural service landing at Banjul International Airport on April 1, 2026, marking a major milestone for the country’s tourism sector.
The new service, scheduled to operate weekly on Wednesdays, is expected to strengthen connectivity between The Gambia and key European markets, particularly Italy, while offering travellers direct access to the destination popularly known as the “Smiling Coast of Africa.”

Tourism stakeholders described the development as more than just an additional route, noting that it represents a strategic investment in The Gambia’s positioning as a competitive global tourism destination. The flight is also expected to drive increased visitor arrivals from Italy and other parts of Europe, further supporting the country’s economic growth through tourism.
Authorities expressed optimism about the partnership with Neos Air, highlighting its potential to enhance accessibility and deepen ties between The Gambia and European travellers throughout the season.
