Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has announced a change in its currency policy, effective July 1st, 2024, shifting from US dollars to Tanzanian Shillings for all transactions.

This update impacts clients and tourism stakeholders conducting business within the conservation area, reflecting a move towards local currency payments to streamline financial transactions and align with national economic policies.

According to the Acting Public Relations Manager, all US dollar payments will now be converted to Tanzanian Shillings based on the Bank of Tanzania daily exchange rate as the government continues to develop a permanent payment modality in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.

It is important to note that individuals/companies issued control numbers in US dollars before July 1st, 2024 will need to pay based on the currency specified in the respective control numbers until August 1st, 2024.
