Afrobeat has really gained momentum on the international music scene with the huge acceptance it has received over the years and in the present-day generation.
The Nigerian induced Afrobeat has so gone viral globally that even European and American artists of African origin are keying in by embracing the genre.
Afrobeat is a music genre originally from Nigeria. It was co-created by the legendary multi-instrumentalist Fela Kuti and talented drummer Tony Allen.
This sound gave birth to modern Nigerian music that is currently making waves globally, which have seen the rise of Nigerian acts like Burna Boy and Wizkid winning the much coveted Grammy award.
Once again, Nigeria is set to light up popular Afro Nation festival with over 10 artistes set to represent the country.
The event which is scheduled to hold in March in the Caribbean country of Puerto Rico, will feature Nigerian acts Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, P-Square, Patoranking and Africa’s best global selling artiste, Ckay among others.
Ghana dancehall artiste Shatta Wale misses out in the line up but the Gold Coast country will be represented by his ‘rival’ now friend Stonebwoy, while east Africa country Uganda has Ed Kenzo. Other artistes are reggae dancehall performer Bennie Man, Kranuim and Rotimi.
The world’s number one beach festival which will last for four days, invites music lovers to explore the beauty of the Caribbean island and come together for another unforgettable beach party in the sun.
This is just the first wave of artists to be announced, with many more expected to be added to the list and showcase the variety of artistic skill and overall dopeness coming from the continent and the diaspora.
With the talent on the roaster display, it is no secret that the world is gradually been taken over by Nigerian Afrobeat and that Nigeria has some of the biggest names in the industry.
