Ibom Air, the esteemed Akwa Ibom State-owned airline, has achieved a significant milestone by venturing into regional operations.

The airline successfully inaugurated its first regional flight, connecting Lagos to Accra, with the inaugural flight taking off at 7:00 am (WAT) on October 17, 2023, providing a new gateway for travellers to explore the vibrant West African region.

According to a press release by the airline this strategic expansion is in harmony with Ibom Air’s overarching vision of becoming a “world-class African Regional Airline.” The airline aims to redefine passengers’ travel experience by prioritizing schedule reliability, on-time departures, and excellent service.

George Uriesi, the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Ibom Air, expressed his excitement about the new route, stating, “We are thrilled to commence our regional operations today, with the inaugural flight between Lagos and Accra. This is a significant step for Ibom Air as we expand our network out of Nigeria and into the African continent.”

Uriesi emphasized the importance of enhancing connectivity between Nigeria and Ghana, fostering tourism, trade, and strengthening economic and cultural ties.
