In a celebration of excellence and contributions to the world of cinema, Nigerian frontline filmmaker, Creative Industry Specialist, and Public Policy Adviser, Madu C. Chikwendu, was bestowed with a distinguished honor by the Pan African Organisation; Academie des Sotigui.
The prestigious award ceremony took place at the opulent Canal Olympia in Ougadougu, Burkina Faso, marking a significant recognition of Chikwendu’s outstanding achievements.
According to a press release by the association of movie producers, Madu was honoured alongside Nollywoods Chinedu Ikedieze, South African Wakanda star, Madame Connie Mchiube and a host of African stars from all the regions of the continent.”

More than half a century after independence Africa is still under the bondage of neo colonialism. We need a new form of radical and revolutionary filmmaking to awaken the consciousness of our people. We need to widen the path created by Franz Fanon, Leopold Sedar Senghor and Kwame Nkruma ” Madu said.
Previous Nigerian honorees include mega stars Richard Mofe Damijo and Kanayo O. Kanayo. A co-founder of Directors Guild of Nigeria, Madu was Nigeria’s first representative at International Federation of Film Producers Association and was also the first Regional Secretary of Federation of Pan African Filmmakers. He is former President of Association of Movie Producers. He is a BOT member of multiple guilds and also member National Development Plan (2020-2050).
