The Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, has arrested an American citizen, Kari Ann O’Rourke who was trying to flee out of the country after discovering that there is a manhunt for her for allegedly murdering a Nigerian in her hotel room in Victoria Island where she stayed.
The American arrived the country with a 24 month multiple visa issued at Atlanta, USA on the 7th of January 2020 and intended to travel out of the country aboard KLM yesterday 8th of February but for the expired COVID-19 result she was not allowed to board and fell into the hands of the already snooping service.
She was later apprehended at the Departure Hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) at the Qatar airline counter before she was brought to the NIS duty room at about 12:30 am this morning.
According to details made available to Nigerianflightdeck, Ann arrived Nigeria on 22nd of January, 2021 with tourist visa and lodged in Victoria Island hotel Lagos and was on her way out of the country but a police officer in charge of her investigation had trailed her to the airport.
A source who provided the information said, “Mrs. Ann was brought into the duty room at about 12:30am 9th February 2021 by an immigration officer and a FAAN Security officer with information about a murder case.
And the accused was already at the airport to depart of 6th February, the officers got wind of the information at about 12:10 am and according to him, he took a walk to the departure and immediately saw an American lady seated all by herself in front of Qatar airline counter at that time of the night, he immediately accosted the lady and checked her passport against the information for confirmation and apprehended her and took her to the duty room for safe keeping.
Upon further investigation, a statement was given by the accused of her visit to Nigeria, as she came on a tourist visa and her intended departure from Nigeria to America yesterday. According to the lady she lodged at British hotel Victoria Island Lagos and visited various tourist centres with one Mr. Ayomide.

Somehow, the family of the deceased was informed of the apprehension of the American and so they came to the airport with armed policemen from Lekki but were stopped and appealed to by some immigration officers and AVSEC who asked them to return after the comptroller, Airport must have looked at the case for necessary action.
For jurisdiction purposes after the suspect was drilled because she was a migrant and under immigration purview, she was handed over to the Nigeria police Airport Command so the team from Lekki can liaise
