For her remarkable performance in the just concluded FIFA Women’s World Cup, Super Falcons player, Halimatu Ayinde was named in World best 11 by UK media outlet The Sun.
According to Pulse Sports, The Sun announced their team of the tournament, featuring a host of top performers throughout the competition. One name that stood out was Nigerian Super Falcons defensive midfielder Halimatu Ayinde.
Ayinde was spectacular throughout the tournament, especially in Nigeria’s last-16 clash against England which the Super Falcons lost on penalties. She did a man-marking job on England and Chelsea star Lauren James, neutralising her efforts at every turn. James had no impact on the game whatsoever, causing her to lose composure and get sent off in the process. Some of the other prominent names in the SunSport team of the tournament include Mary Earps, Keira Walsh, and Manchester United’s Ona Batlle.
