The Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), Mr. Olayiwola Awakan, joined dignitaries at a courtesy visit led by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, CON, Emir of Argungu, as preparations intensify for the 61st Argungu International Fishing Festival (AFF 2026).

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, MFR, mni, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, was held at the Atiku Abubakar Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat, Abuja, and had in attendance Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Yahaya A. Abdullahi, CON, alongside other dignitaries from Kebbi State.

During the visit, His Royal Highness shared the rich history and cultural legacy of the Argungu International Fishing Festival; a symbol of peace, unity, and Nigerian heritage.

The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to support the festival and partner with the Kebbi State Government and Argungu Emirate for its successful hosting.
Olayiwola Awakan GrPr, Director General, NTDA, expressed the Authority’s full support, noting that “all roads lead to Argungu come 2026.”
