A new 12,000-capacity indoor arena is under construction in Lekki, Lagos. Named Lagos Arena, this state-of-the-art venue is set to open its doors in December 2025, promising to become a major hub for events and entertainment in the city.
According to c-mw, when completed, it will be the largest indoor arena in Nigeria.
Where is it?
The arena is under construction in Lekki, on the same strip as the Landmark Event Centre and near Victoria Island. The site is part of a larger entertainment and tourism development called the Lagos Creative and Entertainment Centre.
What’s it for?
Lagos Arena is being built “to house live music, exhibitions and sports”, as well as congresses.
The design includes:
12,000 seats
A retractable seating system, so the layout can change depending on the event
Backstage areas and dressing rooms
Sound and lighting systems for large-scale performances
Space for booths or exhibitions
The building is designed to handle both public shows and private business events.
Who’s building it?
The project is led by the Lagos State Government. Planning began in 2014, but construction kicked off much later.
Lagos Arena was developed in partnership with private investors, as part of an effort to build more large-scale venues in the state. The design was completed by Yazgan Design Architecture.
The development is being managed by Cappa and D’Alberto, one of Nigeria’s oldest construction firms.
What else is nearby?
The arena is part of a planned complex that includes:
A hotel
A car park with space for over 1,000 vehicles
Roads designed to handle event traffic
A waterfront boardwalk
It’s close to other known venues like Eko Convention Centre and Landmark Centre, but significantly larger. Eko Convention Centre is currently the largest indoor venue with 6,000-capacity.
