The Nigeria Association of Tour Operators has initiated fresh discussions to strengthen tourism ties between Nigeria and Ethiopia following a high-level courtesy visit to the Ethiopian Ambassador in Nigeria.
Led by its President, Bolaji Mustapha, the delegation—accompanied by Zonal Vice President Daniel Bello and Zonal Public Relations Officer Joan Ulaeto of the FCT and Northern Zone—met with Legesse Geremew Haile to explore opportunities for expanding tourism exchanges between both countries.
The meeting centered on strategic approaches to position Ethiopia as an attractive destination for Nigerian travelers, with particular emphasis on improving accessibility and awareness. Mustapha highlighted the importance of transit visa policies and closer collaboration between tourism authorities in both nations as key drivers for growth.

According to NATOP, the engagement opened the door for a forward-looking partnership aimed at increasing travel flows and deepening cultural connections between Nigeria and Ethiopia.
The association also expressed appreciation to Ambassador Haile for his confidence in the Nigerian tourism market, reaffirming its commitment to promoting stronger Ethiopia–Nigeria tourism relations as part of broader efforts to advance intra-African travel and cooperation.
Stakeholders say such collaborations are critical to unlocking Africa’s tourism potential by encouraging regional travel, strengthening partnerships, and creating new opportunities within the continent’s growing tourism ecosystem.
