Abuja Green City Tour

On 30 April 2026, a landmark moment was recorded in Nigeria’s tourism sector as stakeholders gathered for the Abuja Green City Tour & Promotion of Sustainable Transport Systems in Nigeria, an initiative led by the President of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators, Bolaji Mustapha.

The event, described by organisers as both a tourism showcase and a sustainability advocacy drive, brought together partners, sponsors, guests, and tourism professionals in what was widely regarded as a historic demonstration of collaboration within the sector.

According to the organisers, the tour was designed not only to promote tourism in the Federal Capital Territory but also to highlight the importance of sustainable transport systems and environmental awareness within Nigeria’s growing tourism industry.

Participants visited several key cultural and civic landmarks across Abuja, including religious centres, art galleries, the Garki Palace, and the National Assembly Museum, before concluding the tour at BMT Gardens. The itinerary also featured a guided drive through selected green and natural areas within the FCT, showcasing the capital’s environmental and urban landscape.

The organisers expressed deep appreciation to sponsors and partners who supported the initiative, noting that their contributions played a vital role in advancing a positive narrative for tourism development in Abuja and Nigeria as a whole.

Mustapha described the initiative as “more than a tour,” calling it a “statement of purpose” aimed at repositioning Nigerian tourism through experience-driven storytelling and sustainable practices.

The event also served as a platform for collaboration among tourism professionals, with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to promoting both Nigerian and African tourism on a broader scale.

Organisers say the success of the Abuja Green City Tour signals growing momentum for environmentally conscious tourism initiatives and sets a precedent for future projects that combine culture, sustainability, and national development.
