The successful test-run flight at Bebi Airstrip marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to reposition Obudu as a world-class tourism destination. The development is being driven by the vision of Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, as the state prepares for a major transformation of the Obudu tourism destination. From September 1, 2026, the Obudu Ranch Resort, Obudu Mountain Resort, Waterpark, Safari Lodge and Bebi Airstrip will temporarily close for extensive rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The planned works are expected to introduce modern facilities, improved access and enhanced visitor experiences, transforming the destination into a tourism attraction capable of competing on the global stage. The successful test flight at Bebi Airstrip offers a glimpse of improved accessibility to the mountain destination and could play an important role in making Obudu more convenient for domestic and international visitors.
